Subject : Prayer for changing elective subject.

Sir,
With due respect, I would like to lay before you the following facts for your kind consideration and necessary action.
I am student of class xi in your college. At the time of admission, I took Math’s/Civics/Computer Science as elective subject. But now the subject seems to be very difficult to me and I find little interest in it. I think I will not be able to do well in this subject. So I have decided to take Biology/Geography/Statistics in stead of Math’s/Civics/Computer Science
May I, therefore, pray and hope that you would be kind enough to allow me to change my elective subject.

Arsenic Pollution: A Silent Killer
Day by day arsenic problem is becoming acute in our country. Many people are becoming victims of this silent killer. Arsenic poisoning occurs when its intake crosses the tolerable limit. Maximum tolerable limit is 0.05 milligram per 1. Contamination leads to appearance of black spots on human skin, particularly palm and leads to hardening of toes. Intake of arsenic contaminated water over a long time harms livers, kidneys, lungs and the skin. The doctors say that there is no efficacious medicine to treat arsenic related diseases. Arsenic contamination is widespread inBangladesh. About half of our population is under the threat of arsenic pollution. According to UNICEF survey 22% tube wells of our country risk arsenic contamination. Arsenic contamination is maximum in the southern and northeastern part ofBangladesh. It is believed that vitamins A, C and E are effective for treatment of arsenic sis. Surface water in ponds and rivers and rainwater are free from arsenic. After boiling they can be taken. People of our country should be aware of this poison. The government should set up deep tube wells in the villages. The unsafe tube wells should be marked red and safe ones should be marked green.
