Mr. Grasshopper sang his song and then he asked Mr. Ant, “Would you like to hear another song? I know many good ones.” “Oh, thank you very much,” replied Mr. Ant politely. “That’s very kind of you, Mr. Grasshopper, but I really must return to my work now. I’ve lots of things to do, you know.” “Oh, do sit down and relax,” said Grasshopper. “Have something to eat or would you like a nice cold drink?” “Thank you very much,” said Mr. Ant again “But I really must go now.” So Mr. Grasshopper sang another song and Mr. Ant returned to his farm and started working again in his fields.
While Mr. Ant worked on his farm, Mr. Grasshopper sang happily in the warm sum. And when he stopped, he sat and admired the beautiful countryside all around him. He looked at the leaves on the trees, the green fields and the fishermen’s boats on the sea. Then Mr. Grasshopper fell asleep. While Mr. Grasshopper slept quietly in his chair, Mr. Ant continued to work on his farm. For many days, weeks and months, he was busy in his fields.
