HSC Examination begins/ began tomorrow/yesterday
Staff reporter : HSC examination of the year 2012 under education boards, madrasa board and technical education board began will begin yesterday/tomorrow. All kinds of preparations were taken/have been taken to hold the exam. properly.
This year about five lacs and fifty thousand students are participating in the exam. The highest amount of students are participating from the Dhaka Board. One lac students are participating from the madrasa board and fifty thousand students are participating from the technical education board. This year the Government has ensured to hold the examination peacefully and to stop copying in the examination. The Education Minister Has already visited different districts of the country and given instructions to the authority to stop copying. The invigilators have been asked to follow the instructions. The examination will continue for a month.
A report on arresting five smugglers with 100 kg of gold
Five Smugglers arrested
Somin Hossain,Dhaka: 8 May: Five smugglers who were carrying 100 kg of gold have been arrested by the airport police yesterday night. Among them two were female and three were male passengers. All of them were Indian citizens. They were going toBangkokby Indian Airlines. While they were passing through the checking their behaviour seemed unusual to the custom officers. They suspected that they might have illegal things. On investigation, they admitted that they were carrying gold bars inside the torchlight’s. They also said that they had come toBangladeshthree days before and were staying at a hotel in Banani. Some Bangladeshi people are also involved in it. They also disclosed their names. The Police is also trying to arrest them. A criminal case has already been filed with Airport Police Station.
A report on the celebration of the birth anniversary of Kazi Nazrul Islam
Birth anniversary of Kazi Nazrul Islam celebrated
Staff reporter : The birth anniversary of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam was celebrated yesterday across the country. Different socio-cultural organizations arranged different programmes to observe the day. There were seminars, discussions on life and works of Nazrul and Nazrul Mela. In the morning The Prime Minister laid wreaths in the graveyard of the poet. Then the family members of the poet and people of all classes of life showed respect to this great poet.
The day’s main programme was arranged byBanglaAcademyin the Osmani Auditorium. The Prime Minister was present in the programme. The speakers discussed the life of the poet and different aspects of his writings. They also discussed how Nazrul contributed to our literature by his writings. His poems and songs were a great inspiration to our freedom fighters during the liberation war. Then the national artists of the country sang Nazrul songs.
A report on the inauguration of a new cardiac hospital in the city
A new cardiac hospital starts journey
Staff reporter : There is a good news for the cardiac patients. Yesterday a new cardiac hospital has been opened in the capital’sElephant Road. This is a joint venture of A Japani company and Orion Group Bangladesh Ltd. The Health Minister, Saiful Islam was present in the opening ceremony.
The hospital authority said that the hospital will remain open 24 hours. It has highly qualified doctors who have worked abroad and earned reputation in their fields. There are also specially trained nurses. There will also be visiting doctors from India, USA and UK. The CEO of the hospital said, “Our motto is to ensure proper care to the patients and earn their satisfaction. Now there is no need for the patients to go abroad for treatment because they will get the same treatment at home at a cheap price”. Now the hospital has 150 beds and gradually the number of seats will be increased. The hospital authority declares that they will give free treatment to the ailing freedom fighters.
