Pahela Baishakh is the first day of the Bengali New
Year. It is a public holiday. The first day of the New Year is celebrated in a befitting
manner all over the world. In the same way, the Bengalese celebrates Pahela
Baishakh, the first day of Bangla calendar as the first day of New Year. Pahela
Baishakh is celebrated all over the
country gorgeously. Many cultural organizations arrange cultural
programmes.Colourful procession is brought out the students and special
programmes are telecast on TV Channels. The traders and shopkeepers open
‘Halkhata and offer sweets to their customers and clients. People wear
traditional dress on this day. The Bengalese celebrates this day as a tradition.
This day has great significance. The whole nation comes closer on this day. We
have the chance to find out cultural identity. The celebration of Pahela
Baishakh is an inseparable part of our culture.
